Took forever to finish. >.<
*This* was my first ever doodle of Dick AND of Bat. I worked on and off on it for a long while, but I was never satisfied with the details.

What I do like in this one, is the symbolism.
Dick's shadow is Batman's shadow because Dick lives in that shadow. He thrived in it. The bat is what Nightwing's destined to become (and later became, when Bruce was displaced in time). But I chose to draw the shadow back-to-back with Dick, because Batman isn't merely a dark shadow looming behind Dick. He's someone that's always been at his back - fighting back to back with him.

[EDIT] = Oh... oh, WOW. Just... just WOW. I can't believe I got a daily deviation; I would've never, ever thought it'd happen for real, but here it is!

Wow. This is fantastic. The composition of the piece is wonderful, and it's also pretty much exactly the features I tend to picture Dick as having after all the different art styles in various books are said and done. So beautifully drawn...

This piece is amazing! The detail work, the expression on Dick's face, the very well defined and proportionate musculature figure of him (omg, drool...) THE COLORS, the message....ah! So amazing! And you're right, many Robins have come and gone but the bond these two as the Dynamic Duo shared can't be replaced. They are the dynamic duo.

Now, if you'll excuse me I'll go and gush some more over this piece for a while.
